Where Is Point Arena, CA?
Point Arena is a coastal hamlet located 14 Miles north of the town of Gualala and the Mendocino County Line. It’s one of 4 actual cities in Mendocino county and one of the smallest cities in all of California. Rumor has it Point Arena was first incorporated to control their own liquor licenses. The city is rich in history with many buildings constructed around the turn of the 20th century.
What is there to do in Point Arena?
Point Arena has numerous attractions. The historic downtown area features art galleries, shops, bars, cafe’s, delicious bakery, and Arena Theatre which features both live performances and film. To the west is the arena cove area which has one of the best surf breaks in Northern California with both a left and right break. Also in Arena Cove is a pier with a commercial boat hoist, delicious eats, and multiple shops all within a stones throw of the water. Point Arena is home to two tremendous hiking adventures on the ocean bluffs: Pelican Bluffs, and the Stornetta Lands Public Monument. The Stornetta Lands is a a 1600 acre preserve open to the public with miles of hiking trails and breath taking vantage points. Of course one has to mention the historic Point Arena Lighthouse with daily tours of the 115 feet light tower. In the lighthouse property there are also vacation rentals which provide a dazzling setting to look out at the coast.
